💷 POTENTIAL CUSTOMS & VAT SAVINGS
An approved ToR relief claim can allow eligible personal belongings and household goods to be imported without the applicable customs duty and import VAT, provided all HMRC conditions are met.
This can mean significant savings when moving a household to the UK.
Important: ToR relief is subject to HMRC approval and eligibility. The €100 is Expat Couriers' service fee, not an HMRC fee.
👤 WHO MAY QUALIFY?
ToR relief may be available to people who are transferring their normal residence to the UK and who meet HMRC's conditions.
Generally, HMRC requires that:
- You have normally lived outside the UK for at least 12 consecutive months before moving.
- You intend to make the UK your normal place of residence.
- You have owned and used the relevant goods for at least 6 months before moving.
- The goods are for your personal or household use.
- The goods are imported within the applicable time limit.
You do not have to be a UK national to qualify. Eligibility depends on meeting the relevant transfer-of-residence conditions.
